It is extremely hard, if not impossible for me to describe myself in just a few paragraphs, but here it goes…
My name is Jessica, and I am just your average girl from Western New York. I am currently a junior in college, where I am majoring in Communications. In the future, I hope to use my degree along with a graduate degree to eventually become a Journalist. Although it may be a long shot, I would love to be a reporter on the Today Show like Ann Curry and Matt Lauer. For now, I spend my time with my family, friends, and beagle named Lacey. I also travel whenever I can and work part-time.
I say that I’m just your typical girl because I have many similar interests to that of my peers, including music, fashion, and going out with friends. My favorite band of all time is the Goo Goo Dolls. I love them because their lyrics are very profound and they are amazing in concert. Although I love all of their songs, my favorite song is Big Machine because it has a great beat and always puts me in a good mood. In addition, like many people my age and really the American public in general, I have an obsession with trashy reality television and tend watch it for hours before I go to bed. My favorite shows that are so good and so bad at the same time are Project Runway, The Real Housewives of Orange County, The Hills, John and Kate Plus 8, and many more.
Now that I have told you about what is "average" and "typical" about me and my life, don't think that I'm not unique . To start, I have a strange fixation with Asian food and could live off of tofu, sushi, and rice. Although I live in an apartment, I never cook for myself. Instead, my dad takes my sister and me out to dinner to various Japanese, Chinese and sushi restaurants around town several times a week. There are few places we have yet to try and it has become our weird way of bonding. Another different thing about me is my love for dance and being on stage. I started when I was two and took tap, jazz, ballet, and acrobatics for 18 years. I was also a competitive dancer for many of those years, but I stopped when I graduated high school. I miss it a lot and whenever I go to see a performance or watch it on television, I secretly wish it was me up there again.
For COM 125 this semester, I hope to become a lot more aware of the various things that the internet has to offer. Until now, my internet experience has only consisted of facebook, email, and google occasionally when I have something to look up or research. Although I knew there was blogging out there, I never attempted to write or even go on a blog site until now. I expect to learn a lot more about blogging in COM 125 along with many other facets of the internet that I currently don’t know much about. I think that a deep understanding of the internet is becoming increasingly important in our society and therefore, I feel that COM 125 is a class that will truly help me in the future.

I absolutely love Jon and Kate plus 8. Actually, I am pretty much addicted to show.
Welcome to the class! Remember to link directly to a post when you are commenting on it, not just to the blog.
Thats cool that you have been dancing that long. I actually took up Salsa dancing this summer. Lots of fun!! Do you know of any UB clubs or night clubs that do Salsa?
